SOUTHDALE COMMUNITY CENTRE
ARENA RETURN TO PLAY PROTOCOL amended October 9, 2020
In response to Manitoba's RESTORING
SAFE SERVICES — Phase 4
Community Centre has reopened to all users and has prepared
for all activity, now including sanctioned games. All users must follow the
provincial 'Team Sports and Other Recreation Activities' guidelines, as
well as their governing bodies' Return to Play Protocols. Prearranged
appointments and skate shop patrons are allowed access. Provincial health
restrictions will be maintained at all times. Operations will be continually
reviewed in conjunction with current and future provincial mandates.
HEALTH SCREENING BEFORE ENTERING FACILITY
attending Southdale must use the provincial self-screening tool prior to
arrival. https://sharedhealthmb.ca/covid19/screening-tool/. Staff
who are sick will not attend work. Users that do not pass the screening will be
prohibited entry. Individuals at higher risk of
illness should not attend.
FACILITY MAINTENANCE AND SANITIZATION
Community Centre is dedicated to the safety of our participants and staff.
Protocols and procedures are in place to maintain provincial standards to
prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes, but not limited to:
Ensuring signage to educate patrons of
physical distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette.
Providing hand sanitizer at the entrance and
Increased frequency of cleaning in washrooms
and high traffic areas.
Sanitization of dressing rooms, benches,
access points and viewing areas between group blocks.
Monitoring facility operations closely to
ensure provincial guidelines are met.
Maximum Group Size: 24. Sanctioned games are allowed
the maximum roster size per team. Exceptions for non-sanctioned teams must be
preapproved by management to arrange proper dressing room and bench protocols.
Face masks are required in the facility and must be worn
properly with the mouth and nose covered. Participants/coaches may remove masks
while on ice surface. Attendees under the age of five are not required to wear
a mask, but strongly encouraged to do so.
Absolutely NO Spitting at any time.
Participants must bring a labelled, filled water
bottle and must not be shared. Water filling stations will not be available for

The centre is set up in a directional format. Traffic is to stay left in all
lobby areas. Ice users have access to dressing room washrooms (limited to one
person at a time) while spectators access main washrooms (limited to 2-3 people
at a time.) Incoming users must yield to users leaving dressing room area.
PARTICIPANT ARRIVAL / DROP OFF
Ice users must arrive
no earlier than 30 minutes before scheduled ice time. Participants that require
assistance in the dressing room may not enter until 15 minutes before the
scheduled ice time. Do not congregate at the front entrance earlier than
these entry times.
No participant will be allowed into the facility before
their team official or instructor has arrived.

ASSISTANCE FOR YOUNG PLAYERS

parents in the room and timing may be limited. Hands are to be sanitized prior
to entry if attending to the dressing room after the ice time.

in the dressing room hallway. Coaches may not have a 'chalk talk' with more
than 12 players in dressing room at a time.

the dressing room at all times. One coach/instructor/team official must wait
until the last player has departed the room. Coaches, instructors, team
officials, players and/or parents may not congregate in the dressing room
hallway at any time.
Dressing room users must yield to users coming from or
going to scheduled ice times.

accommodated. Multiple teams in the same dressing room is not allowed at this
time. Cross ice game protocols are pending.
ON ICE ACTIVITY
must wait in dressing rooms until ice is ready for use. A coach/team
official/referee can advise players when the ice is ready. Absolutely no
congregating at the gates for flood to finish.
Observe physical distancing recommendations while on ice
except for brief exchanges.
Dressing room users must yield to users coming from or
going to scheduled ice time.
Players should stagger entrance to/exit from ice surface.
for use of bumper pads/half ice boards must be communicated to arena staff
prior to ice time. Only rostered team official(s) of home team may access
equipment and must wear face masks while handling. User should wear gloves or
sanitize hands before and after handling.
All spectators must pre-screen using the above mentioned
provincial screening tool. Seniors and
children are discouraged from attending due to higher risk and restricted
movement in the facility.
Spectator Capacity of East Rink: 34. Spectator access for one family member of each player
will be allowed at the start of the ice time.
Spectator Capacity of West Rink: 75. Spectator access for two family
members of each player will be allowed at
the start of the ice time. Exception: Due to roster sizes and other factors,
AAA and MMJHL games will only allow for onefamily member
for the visiting team.
Entrance will only be monitored for the first 10
minutes of the ice time. Doors will be
locked after this time. AAA and
MMJHL games will be provided a window for spectator arrival throughout warm up.
Spectators must watch from inside
the rink at marked
spots in the' stands. No
standing along glass or other areas. Once a spot is
selected, remain in this location for the duration of the ice
Lobby access is permitted for washroom use and canteen access.
Yield to incoming or outgoing users, maintaining one-directional traffic. Absolutely no
loitering/congregating in the lobbies at any time
unless awaiting a food order (one person only.) Spectators should remain in
their designated spot during floods, no congregating in the stands. Children
must remain with a guardian at all times.
Masks may be removed in the designated viewing spot while eating
food/drink from the canteen. Physical distancing must be maintained. Mask must
remain in place while in transit with food/drink.
If it is necessary to leave during the skate,
there is no re-entry. Spectators must leave as soon as the ice
time or game is complete.
All garbage must be disposed of in the

Spectator access as an individual, user group or whole may be disallowed at any
time if rules are disobeyed.
DEPARTURE / PICK UP
Users must vacate the dressing room no
later than 20 minutes after the ice time.
